Enjoy a morning stretch on the scenic Kaslo River Trail. This easy riverside path winds through tall cedar forest with peekaboo lake views, perfect for warming up before your ride.
Trailhead parking is right off Spruce Street. Stop at BlueBelle Bistro in Kaslo for a local coffee before setting out.
Balfour Ferry Terminal
Cruise the iconic curving shoreline to Balfour, where you board the Kootenay Lake Ferry—the world's longest free ferry ride. The views of glacier-tipped peaks and turquoise water from your bike are unforgettable.
Ferry departs roughly every hour in summer. Arrive early if riding on a weekend morning; motorcycles load last but unload first.
Crawford Bay Village
Disembark and stroll Crawford Bay's quirky main street, home to working artisans and offbeat cafes. Watch broom makers or glassblowers, and shop for unique souvenirs.
Try a fresh sandwich at Red's Bread & Bakery or visit the Mainstreet glassblowing workshop.
Pilot Bay Provincial Park
A quick ride south leads to Pilot Bay—home to secluded beaches and a short but rewarding lighthouse hike along forest trails. Breathe the scent of pine as you gaze out across Kootenay Lake.
Check out the 1898 lighthouse’s panoramic platform. The rocky beach is great for skipping stones and a picnic lunch.
Kokanee Creek Provincial Park Campground
Set camp under tall cottonwoods at Kokanee Creek. Swim, paddle, or hike the gentle trails before unwinding by a driftwood fire on the lakeshore.
Sites have fire pits, water taps, and hot showers nearby. Reserve online if on a summer weekend. Local firewood sold at park entrance.

Best wildlife viewing is at sunrise. Interpretive signs along the creek make it fun for nature-lovers.
Ainsworth Hot Springs
A short lakeside cruise brings you to Ainsworth Hot Springs, famous for its unique cave system and mineral pools. Pause to relax weary muscles or just soak up the expansive lake views from your seat.
Public pool entry is optional; grab an espresso at the attached café if you want a quicker stop.
Kaslo River Old Growth Trail
Just south of Kaslo, visit a secret trail through majestic old-growth cedar. The quiet, mossy path rewards with 400-year-old trees and a cool creek—ideal for contemplation.
Trail is lightly marked; park discreetly and pack out all trash. Early summer brings carpets of ferns and wildflowers.
Village of Silverton & Viewpoint
Step back in time in Silverton, a tiny mining town above Slocan Lake. Visit the historic village core and ascend to a north-side viewpoint for a sweeping panorama of the Valhalla Mountains.
Check out the Silverton Gallery if open, or dine on the patio at Silverton Camp Café. Take care along twisty North Slocan Road.
Kaslo Downtown & Riverfront Park
Wind your way back to Kaslo, ending your adventure with a stroll through its lively, Victorian-era downtown and calming riverfront park. Treat yourself at a local eatery and celebrate the loop’s completion.
Visit Angry Hen Brewing for a microbrew, or grab a lakeside gelato at Treehouse Restaurant—both local legends among road trippers.
